The first Group winner of his crop

Flashing an impressive level of precocity, Belbek was sent out as his prestigious yard’s first two year old runner of the season, and opened his account with ease at second asking the following month. He entered the important Gr.3 Prix du Bois on French Oaks undercard as a hot favorite and lived up to the hype under a very confident ride of champion jockey Olivier Peslier to win going away.

By coasting under the wire in Gr.3 Prix du Bois, Belbek clicked off the 5th best final time for a juvenile on this specific course since 1985 and he glided from the quarter pole to the furlong marker in 11'' and change.“ Bruno Barbereau

Founded in 2025, Prix du Bois is always considered an important feature in a pedigree and a stiff test for authentic precocity, a first step potentially leading up talented juvenile to the Prix Morny. Belbek shares with such racing legends as Irish River or Arazi the privilege of having won both the Prix du Bois and  the Grand Critérium (aka Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère), one the most defining two-year-old race in a stallion pedigree.
